Strokes of Genius, Friday December 5

Gregorith had just happened to have some horse friendly snacks on him when he left the house today. After he'd gone out, discovered the adorable tiny horses and gone back in to scrounge around for some.

So he had a little friend with him in a makeshift corral that he'd set up because adorableness aside, he'd been dead set on working on art today.

It just wound up being more him sketching le horse wee-tiny than pottery. Because he also knew he needed to keep a close eye on it so it didn't break anything or hurt itself.

He was also listening to Master of the Bracelets on audio. He'd found a version someone had made with the Howard Shore score added in which he hoped would help him get through it.

The horse was fast asleep. "Yeah," he said softly, pencil gliding over the paper, "I liked the movies better too. I won't tell if you won't."

Rey's warehouse- Friday

You might think that in a large warehouse with a lot going on inside it, you might not hear the little horses on the roof. But you did. And it echoed.

Rey took the opportunity to get some meditation in, figuring that it was good practice in shutting out distractions. It was made harder by the woodchucks, who seemed to be driven crazy by the little clip clops. After a while of sitting in the air about a foot off the ground with her eyes closed, Rey did hear the door slam as they left, and now the distraction was wondering how they got over the quicksand.

Driver's Ed: Drive Fast [Friday, Period One]

Cara was...not quite alone at the front of class.

"Jane is indisposed," she said, with the air of someone hoping that that if she acted like she wasn't being climbed all over by tiny horses then people wouldn't notice she was being climbed all over by tiny horses. "So we'll be having a movie day."

And if you wanted to know what this had to do with driving fast, shut up was why.

The Devil's Nest, Friday Night

You know, Lucifer was in a Good Mood. It had been a bit since he'd been a bit-- well, gleeful like this.

So of course he got behind the piano. Didn't even mind the horses clambering all over it, really. No, he was having far too much fun. "I'm a shootin' star leaping through the sky like a tiger, defying the laws of gra-vi-tyyyy...."

Yes, this was going to continue all evening. Tiny, for his part, had found some earbuds and was sitting quietly in the corner, waiting for it to end.

Trooper Station, Friday

The telephone simply would. Not. Stop. Ringing.

And none of the calls were about any actual crime. Or even anything at all. Every time he picked up the telephone, there was just... silence.

Which is why Watts ended up shrugging out of his suit jacket so he could throw said jacket over the constantly-ringing telephone, in hopes it would muffle it somewhat. It certainly didn't silence it entirely, but... good enough.

"Oh, you'd like Pebbles," Henry said, beaming at the little white horse. "She's a mite bit bigger than you, though. Might not want to slip underfoot." He laughed. "Or underhoof, I suppose!"

He leaned over to gently wave the little white horse away from the fire. "Careful, you'll burn yourself," he said. "The world must look mighty dangerous from down there, actually. D'you get in holes and such a lot? Hope you don't get stuck..."

The forge was open, the resident yapper blacksmith was in. (So were at least two to three tiny white houses clambering over everything.)

*meowing, sounds of things tipping over*

Yes, Tony, gravity works everywhere. Now stop trying to tip my coffee onto the--

*shattering coffee mug*

Thank you. This is Steve Rogers, Tony's still a cat, and I need to read the notes quickly while I can still sort of understand them.

In classes, I helped the baking students assemble a gingerbread house, Zombie Apocalypse fought slithering lights and omnipresent terrible holiday music, Belle had lights and a gremlin photographer in the library, and Raiden took his class to a German Christmas market.

In town, Jaina was not loving the strings of lights all over everything at the Perk, there was a frog serving drinks at the Devil's Nest, so I should probably check on Thor, and Steven and Watts had lunch.

And that's everything I can still read. Tony.

*silence*

He seems unmoved. Have a great weekend, everyone.

Great British Bakeoff! But American! Thursday, December 4

Steve arrived in front of the baking students looking a little frazzled and alone. "Right, so Tony turned into a cat today and he'd make an absolutely terrible judge, so I'm calling an audible and changing the plan. We're going to work together and make a gingerbread house!"

This could only go badly.

"I bought a pre-baked one from the store."

At least he knew himself?

"Come on up to this table and we'll get started."

The Perk- Thursday afternoon

The kids were doing their tutoring, so Jaina had spent the morning training and then come to the Perk to wait out the rest of the time. Luckily they were better kids than she and her brothers had been, and she could trust that they wouldn't get into any trouble while they had holographic supervision. She got her drink, found a table, and sat down with a datapad.

And had to keep using the Force to push the strings of Christmas lights away. She was not in the mood for this. She was never in the mood for this.

Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse, Thursday, Per 3

If Liliana had assumed that resuming class would go smoothly and easily, she had forgotten what December in Fandom was like. Either way, she was waiting for the class in the Danger Shop - which somehow still managed to be infested with slithering strings of Christmas lights - with an expression of pure resignation. The embodiment of 'This May As Well Happen,' as it were.

"An important aspect of continuing to survive in a post-apocalyptic scenario is to not get tunnel blindness," she said once class began. "Yes, zombies may be the biggest threat out there, but that doesn't mean they're the only cause for concern. If you focus only on the dangers shambling after you, you might end up running straight into some other danger that you overlooked completely. And if you break your leg because you didn't notice the potholes in the street, outrunning that zombie is going to be a lot harder.

"Today is going to be more of an athletic class," she continued. "All of the buildings have been sealed off, there's nowhere indoors you can hide. Instead, not only must you fight and/or run from the zombies, you have to do so..." Snow and ice suddenly appeared around them. In some places, it was just enough to make conditions slippery. In others, there were large drifts, or a deceptively thin skim of ice over deep snow. Of course, there were the electric lights present as well, which wanted nothing more than to get underfoot and trip you up, and, just for good measure, there was omnipresent Christmas carols being played just loudly enough to make listening for danger more difficult.

But hey, at least it was just instrumental versions of some of the less twee carols. But that was mostly because Liliana had to listen to it, too, and if she heard I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus one more time, she was going to do something drastic.

"Good luck surviving!" she called merrily. She was going to climb up into the sleigh that had also appeared when the snow did and spend the next hour watching the class in comfort, thank you.

Library, Thursday 12/4

The gremlin photographer set up in one corner of the library was rather adorable, Belle thought. Though the constant flashes of light grew old quickly.

And then, of course, there were the other lights. The strings of lights. The ones that kept moving around the library. That was also rather distracting for both Belle and the gremlin trying to take pictures.

Eventually the gremlin made the choice to start trying to convince the lights to pose for portraits. Beetle was watching, fascinated, when she wasn't reading. Or shelving books. Or trying not to trip over lights that kept twining around her ankles.

The Devil's Nest, Thursday Evening

There was a frog behind the bar at the Devil's Nest. Or, more accurately, on the bar. The fact that the frog was wearing a tiny version of Thor's armor, complete with tiny Mjolnir, might explain why the frog had been allowed to stay.

Weren't you a goat last time?

"Ribbit," said the frog, which might or might not have been Thor explaining that the universe worked in mysterious ways.

Right.

Between the amphibian and the spirit, maybe ask Tiny for your drinks. The Devil's Nest is open!

Food Adventures, Thursday, First Period

"All right, guys!" Raiden exclaimed happily, "today we're doing something a little bit different." And Raiden had a Gray-shaped tagalong for some reason. "We're headed to Frankfurt, Germany, and we're not going to be exploring the city and area's food as a whole. Instead, we're going to be exploring the Christmas markets and all the delicious snacks and drinks in it!" Christmas. Christmas would be the reason for the tagalong. "These markets are common in European cities during December, and they sell things like seasonal decorations and toys, along with all sorts of things to eat and drink! You'll definitely want to get some glühwein, or maybe kinderpunsch if you're not feeling the alcohol, and pick up a bratwurst and some stollen, but beyond that there's a whole range of yummy treats, plus maybe you can get some Christmas shopping in while we're there! So let's get going and get in the festive spirit!"

Little did they know that upon return to Fandom Raiden and his tagalong were going to turn into a chocolate Lab and a sloth, respectively. Weird how that happened.

No, I'm not getting you loose. Maybe after the broadcast. It doesn't look like it's going to take very long.

Up at the School, Space Pirates, Pirates in Space watched a movie, while Health Education talked about getting enough sleep.

The Dorms continued to be quiet, and it looks like the Town was too, with Over Easy suddenly gaining an indoor ice-rink being the only thing of note.

Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime

Steven was running late that morning. Literally, as he ran to the museum to get there on time. In what was perhaps some sort of miracle or kindness of fate, he didn't manage to trip and spill his tea along the way. Instead he got behind the Welcome Desk, put his cup down safely...

...and then knocked his bag onto the floor, spilling the contents everywhere.

Steven sighed. "At least it wasn't the tea?"

He got down on his hands and knees behind the desk to pick up all his items. Or at least what he could find. Hopefully he didn't lose his favorite pencil.

Over Easy, Wednesday

It was finally the most wonderful time of the year, and Gray was living.

He didn't even care that the floor at Over Easy was an ice rink, because he was perched safely at the hostess station. Ice skating was fun, anyway! What wasn't to...oh, okay, some of the staff didn't have skates and that was a problem. But it was a problem for them.

Fandom Radio, Wednesday 12/3

Good morning. No songs today, at least?

*chittering*

No, I hadn’t noticed anything odd about the floor, why would I?

*snickering*

Now I’m going to be frightened of floors all day…

At the school Ghanima took her child and her students in her Reclaiming Your Childhood class to a very large mall to shop for toys. For other people, mostly, and one thing for themselves. Diplomacy read books on…self-help? All right. And I had earplugs for everyone in my Dealing With Other People’s Trauma class, in case the song was bothering anyone. It was very persistent. And sometimes very loud.

Oh, the porg is dancing. I do have a note from the dorms! Billie was in the 2nd floor common room making the music play on purpose, it seems, but she made it sound better by picking the speakers? Well done.

In the town the music didn’t seem to bother Pam at the Perk but she did seem to frighten the staff a bit. She did not frighten Rey who came in for a drink and then spent some time explaining who she is, and what she does at home. And at Caritas, Kitty was removing as many speakers as she could to the alley to try and lessen the noise.

I hope everyone has a day without one song playing over and over and over…and without squirrels laughing like that’s a very funny thing to say.

Health Education, Wednesday, Second Period

"Let's talk about sleep," Don declared. "Sleep is so important to your overall health, as is getting good sleep. Most people need about eight hours a night, and it's important to have a consistent sleep schedule, with a regular bedtime and wake up time." Don was two people. Don had spent ten years in the void. Don did not have anything like a consistent sleep schedule. But hey, do as I say, not as I do, right? "If you're drinking too much caffeine, it can impact your sleep schedule." See also: do as I say. "If you're having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, you can try things to improve your environment, like making it darker or eliminating artificial light sources before bed. That means no scrolling on Vine or whatever it is you kids use these days," he joked. "If you don't get enough sleep, it can really impact your overall mental and physical health. How would you rate your sleep health, and what can you think of that you could do to improve it? Let's brainstorm a little bit. Or you can use this time to take a nap. I won't judge."

Diplomacy, Tuesday, December 2, 2025 [2nd period]

There was a small stack of books on the desk at the front of the classroom today, being eyes with distaste by at least one of your teachers.

"There's no getting around the fact politics and diplomacy involve a certain level of manipulation," Ahsoka started. "But certainly kind of manipulation are more insidious than others."

"Despite my wife's wishes, you can't learn everything just by reading about it, and certainly not from these books," Anakin said.

"Especially not these books," Ahsoka said. "Which are examples of a genre that claim to be teaching the reader to manipulate various factors in their own lives, but are actually about manipulating the reader."

"So get to reading and find five things that tick you off."

Anakin could find five things just in the title page if he tried!

He was an overachiever like that.
