Chloe Saunders | Darkest Powers

Being a Freshman, Chloe hadn't gone to Prom the night before. She had never gone to any dances before, anyway, so it wasn't like last night would have been all that different from her usual life. She had stayed up late watching movies and working on her writing. It was the one outlet that never failed her. She had thought about calling Ino, but decided her friend and teacher was probably at the dance. She finally crawled into bed very late after she had written things for awhile.

Of course, no one had warned Chloe about the fact that children always showed up the day after prom.

That would be when she heard the loud "MOMMY!" right by her ear, she jumped up with a cry, and then was sure she had seen a ghost.
