Chloe Saunders | Darkest Powers

In being warned of some of the dangers of her new school, no one had thought to warn Chloe that there were other strange things that you just couldn't be prepared for.

That would be why a yelp of shock and surprise could be heard from her alcove in her cabin when the strange woman woke her up by smoothing her hair back from her face. Chloe scrambled back away from her and against the wall.

"Who are you and why are you in my ... my cabin?"

"Oh Chloe, dear heart," the lady said gently. "I'm always with you. You never go anywhere now without me. I help and protect you with your birthright."

Chloe's eyes widened as she realized that her amulet was no longer around her neck.

"This just is not possible. I'm dreaming."

"It's no dream, dear," the lady said. "You love and value me so much that it brought me to life and here I am."

Chloe just stared at her.
